February Athlete of the Month:

Jill Webb

When did you start doing crossfit?

I went to my first crossfit class in June of 2013.

What is my favorite WOD?

What is your least favorite WOD?

Any workout that involves burpees. Burpees do not bring me any joy.

What is your favorite lift?

Clean & Jerk

What is your favorite cheat meal?

Chips/Salsa…..anything Mexican!

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am married to the best guy on Earth and have 3 children. Two of my kids are involved in Crossfit, as well as my husband. I am a PE teacher in the Madison County School District and I love my job. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. We enjoy taking trips together and making great memories.

What were you doing before Crossfit?

Before I started Crossfit, I had a gym membership where I attended group exercise classes like Body Pump and Step Aerobics. I also did some running and light weight lifting.

What were your thoughts after your first WOD?

I remember being extremely happy when it was over! It was hard, but I was proud of myself for pushing through and finishing. There were moments in that first workout when I didn’t think I could finish, but I made it. I also remember being surprised at how much I was sweating for just a 10 minute workout!

What were your goals when you joined Coyote?

When I first joined Coyote, I wanted to lose weight, tone my arms and legs, and get stronger.

Have you achieved any of these goals?

There is no question that I have gained strength. I am using weights that I never dreamed I could lift. I do many of the workouts RX, but not all of them. I have increased my energy level tremendously and I feel fantastic. I am working on my weight loss.. .that is an ongoing project.

Has Crossfit affected your life outside of the gym?

I have made some really great friends in Crossfit. I enjoy the family atmosphere and the encouragement I receive from the Coyote family. It’s pretty awesome. I also feel that the confidence I have gained in Crossfit spills over into my teaching. It makes me a better teacher.

Do you have any special memories/achievements during your time at Coyote?

My best memory is when I did my first pull up. I was so excited and I could hardly believe that I had just reached a goal. I never dreamed when I came to that first class that I would be doing pull-ups without bands. I may not do them fast, but I do them. And that is what matters most.

What advice would you give someone just starting at Coyote?

Do not be afraid to try it. You can start wherever you are. Your first class will be the most difficult, simply because you are afraid of the unknown. But once you try it, you will love it.

Tell us something we might not know about you?

I play the piano and enjoy singing. I also work at the Mustard Seed one weekend of every month. I really enjoy my time with them.
