Tell us a little about yourself.

Happily married for 33 years to my wife Alison.  I have 2 adult sons who are married to wonderful daughters-in-law, one of which is about to make me a grandfather.  My only daughter is engaged and getting married to a great future son-in-law in April.  I am privileged to work as Vice-President and CFO of Southern States Utility Trailer Sales and H&P Leasing.  My interests outside of family and my Church, First Presbyterian of Jackson, are playing golf, hunting and college sports.  I have truly been blessed with a great family and friends.

What were you doing before Crossfit?

A little Cardio, mostly walking and elliptical, but getting very frustrated with my overall physical condition.

What were your thoughts after your first WOD?

It was tough but I realized I could make it!  The Coyote instructors and the rest of the group working out were incredibly encouraging and supportive from the very start.

What were your goals when you joined Coyote?

Get in better shape and lose a little weight.  I need to turn around the declining curve!

Have you achieved any of these goals?

Yes, though I have a ways to go I have made progress.

Has Crossfit affected your life outside of the gym?

Sure, overall I feel better, have more energy and believe I am improving/extending my ability to enjoy an active and healthy life style well into the future.

Do you have any special memories/achievements during your time at Coyote?

One of the best parts is the Coyote “family”.  Everyone is great and encouraging.  We hold each other accountable and I look forward to  working out every morning with my friends in the 5:30 group.  This group has grown from 2 or 3 to 15 sometimes now.  We are all different ages, ability levels and were, for the most part, strangers before cross fit.  This has really been one of the factors that drives me to come back day by day.

What advice would you give someone just starting at Coyote?

Start today!  It can be a little scary and there will likely be others much better but everything can be scaled to your ability.  it will make you feel better mentally and physically.  If I can do this for 13 months anyone can.

Tell us something we might not know about you?

I am apparently  a great coach.  I coached Hunter, Ty and Meredith Owen in youth baseball and softball.  They turned out to be pretty good athletes.  I particularly shaped Meredith as I was the first coach to pull her off the mound.  She has never forgiven me!
