Tell us a little about yourself.

My whole family does CrossFit! Our twins come to the kids class and Coleman competed at the coyote classic. My husband, Tom has recently started coming to the afternoon classes. We are originally from the Mississippi Gulf Coast but have lived in Durham, NC the last several years. We moved back to this area in 2016 for Tom’s job, and we love being back in MS. I also own an online clothing resell business, and I have been able to combine my love of fashion and my sales abilities into a business that I love.

What were you doing before CrossFit?

Mostly weight lifting and running, but generally with very little excitement or progress.

What were your thoughts after your first WOD?

I thought to myself “I didn’t die!” and my next thought was, “I don’t know if I can do this again!!”

What were your goals when you joined Coyote?

I wanted to be challenged physically, and I was looking to get to know people with similar goals.

Have you achieved any of these goals?

Yes! I’m tested physically nearly every day. But more importantly, I’ve found a great group of friends that are really like family to me now.

Has CrossFit affected your life outside of the gym?

I feel more confident about my physical abilities, and I’m enjoying my time with my new friends when I’m not at the gym.

Do you have any special memories/achievements during your time at Coyote?

I competed in my first competition in September with the scaled women’s team at the Pensacola Beach Brawl. Once I got past my initial nerves it was a blast and I’m proud of myself and my team for how well we did. I can’t wait to do another one!

What advice would you give someone just starting at Coyote?

Remember that it isn’t a competition (yet)! You are going to enjoy the process a lot more if you try to beat your own previous best rather than trying to out-do the person working out next to you.

Tell us something we might not know about you?

I love to travel and have been to 7 countries in Central America and Europe. My favorite travel experience was volunteering in an orphanage in Guatemala!!
